Driving Under the Influence/Driving While Ability Impaired

Alcohol abuse and impaired driving can have detrimental effects on you, your family and society as a whole.

Each year in Colorado more than 240 people are killed and 4,000 are seriously injured in alcohol related crashes. Not to mention the number of jobs lost, families destroyed, and countless feelings of guilt, shame and remorse.

Colorado has made DUI Enforcement a top priority.

If you’ve been charged with DUI/DWAI the following are classes you can potentially look forward to in regards to treatment:

Level I Education:

Typically for 1st time offenders
BAC of .119 or less
Education based, workbook driven

Level I Education is currently a 2 day 12 hour seminar (State Standards may require 12 hours over a three day period in the future). Genesis Counseling typically offers this seminar over a weekend, once every other month.

Level II Education:

Level II Education is a twelve week, two hour per week Education course. This level of treatment is typically for individuals whose BAC is .12-.169%, with no prior offenses.

Level II Therapy:

Track A:
Level II Education plus 42 hours of Level II Therapy. The course runs 21 weeks/2 hours per week. This level of treatment is for individuals who have no prior offenses with a BAC of .120% to.169% .
Track B:
- Level II Education plus 52 hours of Level II Therapy. The course runs 26 weeks/2 hours per week. This level of treatment is for individuals who have no prior offenses, with a BAC of .170% or higher.
Track C:
Level II Education plus 68 hours of Level II Therapy. The course runs 34 weeks/2 hours per week. This level of treatment is for individuals who have one or more priors with a BAC of .170% or lower.
Track D:
Level II Education plus 86 hours of Level II Therapy. The course runs 42 weeks/2 hours per week. This level of treatment is for individuals who have one or more priors with a BAC of .170% or higher.
