Reaching out to adolescents in need
The Genesis Counseling Adolescent Program (G-CAP) is geared toward adolescents and their families who face difficult times. Our goal is to help convert adolescent challenges into learning experiences, whereby youth obtain skills and gain insight in order to equip them to make healthier, more appropriate choices in life.
G-C AP addresses the issues of Alcohol/Drug abuse, Anger and Lack of Motivation.
G-CAP incorporates the “Why Try” Program, Gestalt Therapy & Principles, and Solution Focused Therapy. Concepts are presented thru experiential exercises and hands-on interventions – not just traditional “talk therapy”. But G-CAP is more than just 75 minutes of “activities”: decision making skills, dealing with stress, developing greater self-respect, and giving up doing things that are harmful to self and others are important factors in G-CAP. So is the incorporation of the family.
G-CAP and the Family:
Genesis Counseling believes true success in changing adolescent behavior entails including the family in the change process. Genesis Counseling offers every adolescent enrolled in G-CAP and their family one free Family Therapy session. The family is invited to share experiences, explore areas of change, and create a “family plan” providing a “where do we go from here” outline.G-CAP is a minimum of twelve weeks, 75 minutes in duration. The cost is $20.00 per session.
